I Believe in Love

I Believe in Love

I believe it, nobody sold me
Always knew it, nobody told me
I believe in someone to hold me
I believe in love

I've been thinking about love songs this week. Hopeful lyrics like "love will find a way" or "love is in the air" always gives me the feels. But I've recently been reintroduced to a BANGER of a love song in Kenny Loggins' I Believe in Love. I heard it on a Yacht Rock station not long ago and fell in love with the song all over again.

Released on the 1977 album Celebrate Me Home, and written by Marilyn and Alan Bergman and Kenny Loggins, the song explores how choosing to open your heart to love is the best thing for your soul. Love yourself enough to freely love someone else - feeling love is feeling good! Didn't my mother, RuPaul, say something similar? Can I get an amen?

I have become a firm believer in choosing love as I've gotten older. Let's get real. Life is hard. Choose to love yourself and each other in good and especially in bad times. It's not always a straight or easy path, but I know it can be worth it. Because on the other side of pain is joy. We are better together when we lead with love and kindness. I believe in feeling good. I believe in love. Will you?

Look to the sun and sing along,

Lindsey
