Welcome to Lyrical Sunshine

Hello, friends!

I am so excited to finally welcome you to Lyrical Sunshine.

There have been moments in my life when I couldn't quite find the words for what I was feeling. Somehow, a song always could.

Long before Lyrical Sunshine was even an idea, music had already become my quiet companion. A lyric would find me at exactly the right moment. Sometimes it was on a long drive home. Sometimes it came after a difficult day. Sometimes it found me during a moment when life felt heavier than I knew how to explain. It still happens today. I honestly think the right songs have a way of finding us when we're ready to hear them. Have you ever had that happen?

Maybe you've heard a lyric a hundred times before, and then one day it suddenly means something completely different. It's as if the songwriter somehow understood exactly what you needed to hear, even though the song was written years ago.

I'm Lindsey, and if there's one thing you should know about me, it's that I've always believed song lyrics are more than catchy choruses. They're poetry. They're little pieces of wisdom wrapped inside a melody. They remind us to keep going, help us heal, restore our confidence, and gently lead us back to joy when life gets heavy.

Sometimes that means rolling down the windows, turning the volume all the way up, and singing every word at the top of my lungs. Other times, it means sitting quietly with a notebook, writing the same lyric over and over until my heart finally catches up with my head. I've been doing that for years.

Those notebooks slowly filled with handwritten lyrics, little doodles, sketches, and thoughts. I never intended to create artwork. I was unconsciously trying to make sense of whatever was going on in my life at that moment. Looking back, I can see those pages becoming something more. They became reminders that hope, courage, and joy are never as far away as they seem.

Sometimes all we have to do is press Play.

As I look back over my life, I realize music has been giving me my voice for a very long time. It has celebrated with me, comforted me, challenged me, and helped me begin again more times than I can count. One day a simple thought settled into my heart. If song lyrics could help carry me through so many chapters of my life, maybe they could help someone else, too. That's how Lyrical Sunshine was born.

To me, Lyrical Sunshine isn't just a clothing brand. It's an invitation to choose joy and sunshine over shade. It's a reminder that kindness is never out of style. It's about wearing words that encourage instead of divide, celebrating the songs that become part of our stories, and remembering that sometimes one familiar lyric is all it takes to remind us who we really are.

The world feels heavy sometimes. We spend a lot of time talking, but not nearly enough time listening. It's easy to forget how much we still have in common. Yet I've noticed something beautiful happens whenever music enters the conversation. Complete strangers smile because they recognize the same lyric. Someone starts singing, someone else joins in, and for a few wonderful moments we're not thinking about our differences. We're simply people sharing a song.

That's the world I hope to create, one small conversation at a time. If a sweatshirt starts a smile, if a tote bag sparks a memory, if a beach towel reminds someone of their favorite summer anthem, or if one lyric helps someone through a difficult day, then Lyrical Sunshine has done exactly what I hoped it would.

A Little About Me

Music has been the soundtrack to every chapter of my life.

Growing up in the '70s, my family practically wore out our 8-tracks of Carole King's Tapestry. We sang together in the car until we knew every word by heart. Those songs taught me that music could tell stories, hold hope, and make ordinary moments unforgettable. I fell in love with storytellers, artists who could make you laugh, cry, dream, or believe again, all in the span of three or four minutes.

The '80s arrived and suddenly I was all about loud guitars, hair bands, and turning the volume up a little higher. College introduced me to the Grateful Dead, and for a while I wanted nothing more than to follow the music wherever it would take me.

Years later, my husband and I built memories on road trips with the Foo Fighters and Oasis blasting through the speakers. We danced around the kitchen to Destiny's Child without caring who was watching. Then my two sons introduced me to the music of their generation. Chance the Rapper, Billy Strings, Taylor Swift, and artists I may never have discovered on my own. My niece completed my musical education by proudly making me a Little Monster.

People ask me all the time what kind of music I like. The truth is, I don't really have an answer. I like songs that make me feel something. Whether it's folk, country, classic rock, heavy metal, pop, Americana, indie, Broadway, or something in between, a great lyric has no genre. It simply finds the person who needs it. That's what you'll find here.

This blog is where I'll share the songs that have shaped me, the stories connected to them, the lyrics that have carried me through life's unexpected twists, and the inspiration behind the artwork you'll find throughout Lyrical Sunshine. I'll share playlists, favorite artists, unexpected discoveries, memories that still make me smile, and the little lessons music has quietly taught me over the years.

I hope you'll explore our Spotify playlists, discover a few new favorites, revisit some old ones, and maybe even reconnect with a lyric you haven't thought about in years.

Most of all, I hope you'll become part of this little community. I believe music still has the power to connect us. I believe kindness is contagious. I believe joy is something we can choose, even when life isn't easy. And I believe every one of us has a song that helped shape who we are.

I'd love to hear yours.

After all, you never know when one lyric might be exactly what someone needs to hear.

Until next time, sing your song. 🎶☀️❤️
