Thank You for Being a Friend

Thank You for Being a Friend
Thank you for being a friendTraveled down a road and back againYour heart is trueYou're a pal and a confidant

And if you threw a partyInvited everyone you knewYou would see the biggest gift would be from meAnd the card attached would say...

We all know Thank You for Being a Friend as the theme song from the Golden Girls TV show, right? Most likely we could sing it verbatim. But dig deeper and listen to the entire original track released in 1978 by Andrew Gold on his LP, All This and Heaven Too. The simple lyrics ring true. Showing thanks and gratitude for your friend is beautiful. I'm also reminded to be a friend, too. We all need one now and again. This song is lyrical sunshine in its purest form. It just makes me smile.

I'm not ashamed to sayI hope it always will stay this wayMy hat is offWon't you stand up and take a bow?

I am grateful for my friends, both old and new. They each hold a special place in my heart and I think about them every day. I get consumed by daily life and I don't reach out to connect as much as I'd like. Social media is helpful, but it's not really how I want to interface with the world. I much prefer to tell my pals face to face what you mean to me, and I will strive to do it. But for the moment, I will send much love to friends near and far, silver and gold, from behind my keyboard. I'm so glad you are a part of my life. Thank you for being a friend.

Look to the Sun and Sing Along,

Lindsey
