Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten

I've always loved those lyrics.

The first time I heard Natasha Bedingfield sing Unwritten, I thought it was a catchy pop song with a great message. Years later, I hear it very differently. Funny how songs do that. They grow alongside us, and somehow the lyrics keep changing even though they stay exactly the same.

When we're young, we think our whole lives are waiting for us. Every decision feels exciting because there are so many possibilities ahead. Then life happens. We build careers. We raise families. We make mistakes, celebrate victories, lose people we love, discover new dreams, and sometimes quietly set a few old ones aside. Before we know it, years have passed.

Somewhere along the way, I think many of us start believing that our biggest adventures are behind us. We tell ourselves we're too busy, too old, or too settled to begin something new. We convince ourselves that maybe we missed our chance.

I don't believe that anymore. Lyrical Sunshine is my proof. This little dream lived in my heart for years before I finally had the courage to bring it to life. There was always a reason to wait. Life was busy. The timing wasn't perfect. I wasn't sure anyone would understand the idea. Looking back, I realize I wasn't waiting for the right time. I was waiting for permission. One day I realized I didn't need it. That's why these lyrics mean so much to me now.

Today is where your book begins.
The rest is still unwritten.

Every morning we wake up with another blank page. We can't rewrite yesterday, but we still get to decide what happens next. Maybe today's chapter is a big adventure. Maybe it's a difficult conversation you've been putting off. Maybe it's finally signing up for the class you've always wanted to take, planning the trip you've been dreaming about, or saying yes to an idea that's been quietly waiting in your heart.

Maybe it's something as simple as believing in yourself again.

I've discovered that starting over doesn't erase everything that's come before it. Quite the opposite. Every chapter we've already lived gives us the wisdom to write the next one a little better.

That's one of the reasons I love this community we're building through Lyrical Sunshine. It reminds me that no matter our age or our circumstances, we still get to dream. We still get to create. We still get to surprise ourselves. The story isn't over. In fact, it might just be getting to the best part.

So wherever you find yourself today, I hope you'll remember that your next chapter is waiting. You don't have to have the entire story figured out. You just have to be willing to write the first sentence. Who knows? It might become your favorite chapter yet.

Go write that next chapter. I'll be cheering you on. ☀️
